Conveyance Application Development Engineer - Activities for the first 6 months in post

  • Become fully trained in the hot conveyance product family:
    • Install & Install Plus (multi-cert)product brands
    • Infire
    • Inline & Inline Plus
    • Inflow and Inflow Plus
    • Conveyance tube specifications and standards
    • Pressure pipe system design
    • Boiler design
    • District heating system design
    • The advantages of welded tubes versus seamless tubes
    • The advantages of hot versus cold welded tubes
    • How to specify tubes for pressure pipe systems
    • How to select products from the Tata Steel product family
    • Application development case-studies
    • Relative attractiveness of sub-sectors

Source: Manager CTS & NPD, conveyance tubes & PMM Tubes (or equivalent)

KPIs :

  • Number of courses completed versus plan in the month
  • Acceptable test scores at the end of training packages

With the Commercial Manager (CM) and account teams:

  • Identify target end-user accounts
  • Explain the product family to relevant stockholders and service centres
  • Establish relationships with the target end-users in partnership with stockholders
  • Establish relationships with target member state Trade Association
  • Identify specific opportunities for the specification of the TSE conveyance products
  • Identify specific opportunities for seamless to welded conversion
  • Deploy application development services to achieve specification of TSE products
  • Feedback application development and product development opportunities
  • With the PMM define new and high value opportunities
  • With the CTS and NPD manager define new product and application technology
  • Contribute, as required, with conveyance standards development opportunities
  • Support, as required, customer QA activities

KPIs – input KPIs

  • Number of end-users visited per month
  • Presentations made per month
  • Trade Association contacts made as a proportion of all relevant trade associations
  • Number of active application development projects in hand in the month

Output KPIs

  • Number of specific opportunities for new applications identified per month
  • Number of opportunities for seamless to welded conversion identified
  • Enquiry volume and value initiated in the month as a result of market development activity
  • Sales volume and value resulting directly from application development projects versus plan
  • Sales volume and value resulting from seamless to welded projects versus plan

Specific outcome targets per engineer for the first 6 months:

  • Enquiry volumes identified totalling a minimum of 2.5kT
  • Potential contribution identified from active projects totalling at least £250K

Active engagement established with at least 5 end-users

  • Two seamless to welded conversion projects in PROGRESS
